Lore

Thorns of Oblivion

In the depths of the Eltherian Forest-where time drifted like fog and moonlight danced through tangled
boughs-there lay a secret elven village named Oblivion.
Shrouded in enchantments and protected by the forest's will, Oblivion was a haven of serenity and natural wonder.
Among its people lived a young elf named OtakuLyfe, a quiet herbalist whose bond with nature ran deeper than roots beneath stone.
OtakuLyfe tended the village gardens with an unmatched tenderness.
His hands knew every leaf, every stem.
Where others saw simple flora, he saw language-plants that whispered, watched, and remembered.
With dark brown hair falling just above sharp, perceptive eyes, OtakuLyfe carried the stillness of ancient trees in his presence.
But that stillness was not eternal.

The First Petal

One spring, a strange vine began to creep along the outer edge of Oblivion.
Its thorns were obsidian black, its
roses the color of fresh blood.
No one had planted them, yet they bloomed freely-on stone, in shade, even through frost.
Their perfume was sweet, intoxicating, unnatural.
Even as the seasons turned, the vines endured.
They withstood violent storms, blanketing snowfalls, and the
full decay of autumn.
Neither cold nor time could kill them.
The villagers were enchanted.
The roses climbed homes, curled around trees, and crept into the gardens.
Children wove them into crowns.
Lovers gifted them in secret.
The beauty of the roses masked their intent-but not from OtakuLyfe.
When he touched their petals, he didn't feel softness.
He felt something watching
Waiting.
He named them Bloodthorn Roses.

Whispers in the Roots

By midsummer the following year, the roses began to spread uncontrollably.
Native plants wilted in their
presence.
Forest paths twisted as roots were pulled and reshaped.
One night, a young girl named Elira
vanished while playing near a rose-covered grove.
Her scent was found near the thorns.
Nothing more.
OtakuLyfe ventured to the place where the roses first appeared.
Beneath the earth, he uncovered a stone etched with ancient runes: a curse anchor, pulsing with dormant magic.
The roses were not natural-they were vessels for something far older and more dangerous.
A presence had awoken beneath Oblivion.

The Curse of Sythrelle

Old scrolls in the village shrine told of Sythrelle, a banished goddess of love betrayed.
Once a weaver of life and bloom, she was cast out by the gods for loving mortals too deeply.
In her grief, she cursed the land.
Her tears became thorns.
Her sorrow bloomed into death.
The roses were her vengeance.
OtakuLyfe understood what had to be done.
The curse could not be uprooted-it had to be bound.
And only through sacrifice could Oblivion be spared.

The Thornbound Ascension

OtakuLyfe descended into the rose-thicket alone.
The vines thickened around him, pulsing like veins.
At the heart of the grove, he knelt before the curse anchor.
He began the ritual.
He spoke the ancient words.
Blood dripped from his palm.
The roses twisted, screaming silently.
Just as the final verse was spoken, a single thorn shot forth and pierced his heartline.
His blood met the curse.
Pain unlike any mortal suffering consumed him.
His body convulsed.
Thorns wrapped around his limbs. His bones cracked and reformed.
His dark brown hair turned ashen white, as if burned by divine fire. Black horns burst from his skull, curving like twisted branches.
And then came the mark.
But the curse did more than scar his flesh-it rewrote him.
It darkened his spirit, hollowed his mercy, and planted a venomous rage deep within his heart.
His thoughts twisted.
His voice grew colder.
He began to crave the pain he once feared.
The vines did not just bind-they corrupted.

The Tattoo of the Curse

As the transformation settled, the curse etched itself into his skin-vines and roses, black as ink, burned across his chest, neck, and arms.
The vines pulsed with ancient magic, alive and unmoving, a living tattoo carved by divine wrath.
Each thorn along the tattoo represented a life the curse had taken.
Each bloom, a memory buried
in pain.
He became something else.
Not quite elf.
Not fully demon.
He became the Thornbound-a vessel of the curse, bound by his own will to suppress its spread.
The roses throughout Oblivion withered.
The thorns crumbled to ash.
Oblivion was saved.
But OtakuLyfe was lost.

The Demon of Oblivion

The villagers never saw OtakuLyfe again, only a figure that sometimes wandered the forest shadows.
His white hair glowed under moonlight, and the vines on his body shimmered like runes.
His eyes, once warm, now burned with crimson fire.
His presence carried sorrow... but also menace.
Villagers spoke of blood found near the ruins of where the thorns once bloomed.
His voice, when heard, sounded like splintered wood soaked in rot.
He had become something other.
Oblivion remained safe, yet uneasy.
No roses bloomed again.
But from time to time, a single blood-red petal would fall from the wind, resting on a windowsill or floating across the river.
Those who found them often whispered:
"He watches still."
And so, the tale of OtakuLyfe-the Thornbound of Oblivion-became legend.
A story of sacrifice, beauty, and
rot.
A tale passed from mother to child in hushed tones:
"Beware the roses. They do not drink water-they drink blood, marrow, and memory. If they bloom again, run.
Do not call his name. If he rises, it will not be as a guardian... but as a demon of thorns, fangs, and a forest
soaked in red."
